How to Find Newhaven Harbour

Newhaven Harbour is located in north Edinburgh, approximately 2.5 miles from Edinburgh city centre. It's well-connected by public transport and easy to reach by car or taxi.

By Tram

The Edinburgh tram network extended to Newhaven in 2023, making it incredibly easy to reach from the city centre. Alight at Newhaven stop — the harbour is just a 2-minute walk. Trams run every 7–10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport and the city centre (Princes Street / York Place).

By Bus

Lothian Buses routes 7, 10, 11, 16, and 36 all stop within a 5-minute walk of Newhaven Harbour. From Edinburgh Waverley station, the most convenient bus is the number 36 from North Bridge, which takes approximately 15 minutes.

By Car

Newhaven Harbour is signposted from the A901 (Lindsay Road). Free on-street parking is available on Pier Place, Annfield, and surrounding streets. During busy summer weekends, we recommend arriving 20–30 minutes early to find parking. There is no dedicated car park at the harbour.

By Taxi

A taxi from Edinburgh Waverley station costs approximately £8–12 and takes 10–15 minutes. From Edinburgh Airport, expect to pay £25–35 (30–40 minutes). All major taxi apps operate in Edinburgh, or hail one of the city's distinctive black cabs.

Check-In Process

Please arrive at the harbour 20 minutes before your scheduled departure. Our crew will meet you at the departure point (clearly signposted) to check you in, issue boarding passes, and provide a safety briefing. Late arrivals may not be able to board — please plan your journey with buffer time.

We offer full refunds for cancellations made 7+ days before departure, 50% refund or free rebooking for 2–6 days' notice, and no refund for less than 48 hours' notice (though you can transfer your booking to another person). If we cancel due to weather, you always receive a full refund or free rebooking at a date of your choice.
